Ephesians: Walk in Love

“The Blessing of Election”

More than any single theological question I have been asked as a pastor is, “Do you believe in predestination?” Whether speaking to students at a youth conference, college students at a campus Bible study, or with worshipers Sunday after church, the doctrine of election and predestination swirls in people's minds. Trying to understand this doctrine is challenging, often confusing, and can even lead to conflict with others. As we move through the book of Ephesians, we meet these doctrinal truths immediately and frequently. These doctrines, understood correctly, are magnificent jewels for the followers of the Lord Jesus. They root us deeply in eternity even as we look to our eternal future, impacting how we live now as followers of Christ. These truths are not to be ignored. We must not distance ourselves, even though there is mystery and complexity to our comprehension, but look to dig deep as we surrender to what God’s Word clearly teaches. Moving slowly through a letter like Ephesians exposes us to many of the richest theological truths revealed in God’s Holy Word. As the Spirit leads and illuminates our hearts and minds, we can expect to be transformed by His Word, work, and covenant promises.

Invite friends and family to worship in-person with us on Sunday at 8:00 (Chapel), 9:30 or 11:00 a.m. or online at pcpc.org/live/, the PCPC App with an iOS or Android device, or YouTube.

In love He predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved.
